it’s/its

the difference between “it’s” and “its” is a commonly tested issue on the act. “it’s” is the contraction for “it is.” “its” is a possessive pronoun. hint: if you ever are not sure, try reading “it is” into the sentence and see if it makes sense.

examples: it’s going to rain tomorrow. i’ll have to make sure my dog puts on its jacket.
