get a variety of support. in this post, we&#8217;ll discuss <a href=\"#apply\">how to apply for act accommodations and\/or english learner supports<\/a>, the <a href=\"#testing\">available testing dates<\/a> if you need accommodations, and <a href=\"#prep\">how to simulate act accommodations<\/a> in your test prep.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"apply\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>how do i apply for act accommodations?<\/h2>\n<p>to learn how to apply for disability-related act testing accommodations, the official <a href=\"http:\/\/www.act.org\/content\/dam\/act\/unsecured\/documents\/6368-act-policy-for-documentation-web.pdf\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">policy for act accommodations documentation<\/a> is in-depth and quite helpful. in brief, here are the steps for applying for disability accommodations and\/or english learner (el) supports:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>register with the test accessibility and accommodations (taa) system:\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/services.actstudent.org\/oa_html\/actibecacdlogin.jsp\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">create or log in to an existing account<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"\/\/www.catharsisit.com\/hs\/act\/act-test-registration\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">register for the act test<\/a><\/li>\n<li>indicate need for act testing accommodations and\/or english learner supports<\/li>\n<li>select the type of accommodation and\/or english learner supports you need. details of a student\u2019s accommodations or english learner supports are not shared with the score recipients.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>once you complete registration, you\u2019ll get an email with instructions on how to work with your school to submit a request. forward the email along with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.act.org\/content\/dam\/act\/unsecured\/documents\/taa-consent-to-release-information-to-act.pdf\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">consent to release information to act<\/a> form.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>your school official submits the actual request to act.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>all requests for act accommodations and english language supports, including appeals, must be submitted by your school official by the published late registration deadlines for your preferred test date. find upcoming <a href=\"http:\/\/www.act.org\/content\/act\/en\/products-and-services\/the-act\/registration.html#dates-locations-fees\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">test dates and deadlines on the registration page<\/a>.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>finally, make sure to review the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.act.org\/content\/dam\/act\/unsecured\/documents\/accommodations-infographic-student.pdf\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">accommodations checklist<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.act.org\/content\/act\/en\/products-and-services\/the-act\/help.html\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">faqs for students and parents<\/a>. these will be helpful guides throughout the process.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>home-schooled students should check out the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.act.org\/content\/dam\/act\/unsecured\/documents\/requesting-act-approved-accommodations-homeschool.pdf\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">accommodations checklist for homeschooled students or examinees no longer in school<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>what are act english learner supports?<\/h3>\n<p>act accommodations for ell learners are meant to make the test fair for non-native english speakers. if you\u2019re not familiar with english learner supports, qualifying students can use one or all of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>extended time, not to exceed time and a half<\/li>\n<li>approved word-to-word bilingual dictionary (no definitions)<\/li>\n<li>test directions in the native language<\/li>\n<li>testing in a familiar environment\/small
