if you are taking the apush exam, you know that there\u2019s a lot of material to understand. <\/p>\n
like, a lot.<\/em><\/p>\n studying is key to doing well on this exam, and if you continue reading this post, you will get some great ideas to help you organize your apush material in a useful us history timeline. <\/p>\n i am sure that if you are taking the apush exam, you have your own study tips and tricks to help you prepare. but just humor me for a second with the timeline idea.<\/p>\n the apush exam is trying to see how well you can think historically, a concept i explain in more detail in this blog post<\/a>. these historical thinking skills are:<\/p>\n 1. contextualization you can do yourself a huge favor and study each one of these 4 c\u2019s through organizing content in a timeline. don\u2019t believe me? keep reading. (if you are already on board as to why you should study with a timeline, skip ahead to the \u2018what timeline should i use to study for the apush exam?\u2019<\/strong> section.)<\/p>\n ap history reasoning skills<\/em> (source: here<\/a>)<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n for all of these skills, a timeline will help you make sense of what was relevant at a particular historical moment<\/strong> to compare similarities and differences<\/strong> between two or more events, the causal relationship<\/strong> between those events, and how events may have changed or remained the same<\/strong> over time. <\/p>\n in other words, timelines rock for studying for the apush exam!<\/p>\n most resources will give you timelines that are centered around the periods that you need to know for the apush exam. this makes sense, as this is how most of the content is organized that you will learn. <\/p>\n however, the apush exam has you going beyond rote memorization and asks you to synthesize and analyze information, too. the standard periods will not be enough. <\/p>\n instead, i am suggesting that you use both<\/strong> the standard periods and<\/em> the themes for the apush exam to create your timeline. follow along to create your own. <\/p>\n you can create a standard timeline that has the long line and information above or below it if you wish. for the purposes of this blog post, however, i will show you a table with the standard periods and the apush themes. see below the table for the key of abbreviations. <\/p>\nwhy should i study with a timeline?<\/h2>\n
