if you know me, you know i love to eat. i am constantly snacking between meals, looking for new recipes, and scrolling through the food section on pinterest. when i found out that certain foods can help me focus, stay awake, and improve my memory, it changed my snacking life. not to mention they are all natural and healthy.
many of us associate eating healthy with fitness, but eating healthy provides many benefits. you can literally eat your way “smarter”. while you’re studying for the sat or the act, consider replacing that bag of chips next you with one of these alternatives!
blueberries
also known as “brainberries”, these little guys pack a big punch. studies show that they can improve learning capacity, motor skills, and protect the brain from oxidative stress. one cup a day will be just enough to keep you going. plus, you can eat them in any form- frozen, fresh, or freeze-dried!

trail mix
nuts are rich in vitamin e, which helps aid your cognitive abilities. plus, they are an easy snack to mindlessly munch on while studying without making a mess. be wary of store bought trail mix, additives may diminish some on the beneficial properties associated with the tasty snack. try making your own for guaranteed nutritional value!
beans
i know this one may seem odd, but beans provide a steady stream of energy. we can always use energy when studying! black beans will be the best in providing just the right amount of energy!

dark chocolate
dark chocolate contains multiple natural stimulants that will keep you alert while studying. not only will you be more alert, but this sweet treat enhances concentration and focus! dark chocolate also contains endorphins that will help boost your mood! could it be possible that this snack will actually make you happy to study? be careful though, take this snack in moderation.
