how to take advantage of second semester senior year

it’s the final stretch! we’re almost there!

giphy

right now, there’s basically nothing left to do but wait till summer… so you might as well take advantage of your last few months as a high school student.

get to know people from your college

most colleges set up facebook groups for members of the class of 2019 to get to know each other. don’t hesitate to like, comment, and create posts of your own. friend people and message away. everyone just wants to make new friends, so they won’t reject you. it will be great to already know some people when you start school.

whether or not your school has a facebook group, you probably know a few people from your hometown that attend your college. make sure to message them with any questions you may have. maybe you can even meet up when they come home for breaks. now you have an experienced, upperclassman friend!

don’t leave anything unsaid

you’re about to leave your family and friends for at least four years. you don’t want to regret not saying something in person when you had the chance. you have nothing to lose! it’s not like you’ll have to see them everyday if things get awkward.

ask your crush to prom. cut out toxic frenemies. remind true friends how much you appreciate them. tell your parents how much you love them. now is the perfect time to be honest with everyone. get everything off your chest. it will allow you to have a true fresh start in college.

say thanks

on a related note, give thanks to those that deserve it. you wouldn’t have made it this far without the teacher that helped you during free periods, the college counselor that told you about your dream school, and the family members that supported you in good times and bad. whether the thank you is verbal, hand-written, or even through a gift, do what you need to do before you say goodbye.

get involved in your passions

just because grades don’t matter as much any more, doesn’t mean you should spend all your time watching netflix. use all of this time to give extracurricular activities your all. train for any sports you plan on playing in college. make the newspaper or the yearbook the best it can possibly be. write a novel. take more photos. do whatever you always wanted to do but couldn’t because you had too much homework.
