officially, virginia tech makes the sat essay optional, and does not consider sat essay scores in admissions decisions. if you are confident you can get a good score on the sat essay, though, it couldn’t hurt to take the essay. but it likely won’t help your chances of admission either. so i’d recommend against taking the optional essay portion of the exam.
