with college application season starting, scholarship season follows closely behind. whether you are a senior planning for the years to come or a current college student seeking additional scholarships, these sites will direct you to countless scholarships that you qualify for, for free!
1. fastweb
this has been by far my favorite scholarship search website. like most scholarship search websites, you fill out credentials, such as your school, grade point average, etc., and they match you with scholarships you qualify for. you can search for unlimited scholarships for free, and the website is easy to use. it also organizes scholarships based on your likelihood of applying. best of all, it gives you a total of the potential amount of money you could receive from all the scholarships you qualify for!
2. scholarships.com
the name serves as description enough for the purpose of this website. it is very similar to fastweb. it will match you with scholarships you qualify for, organize them for you, and you can apply for the scholarship straight from the website. this website is free as well!
3. your local library!
many libraries, especially in suburban and urban neighborhoods, have online resources that can direct you to local and national financial aid opportunities, including scholarships! for example, at my local library in oakland, they have a website where they list various financial aid opportunities in the bay area. don’t forget to check local resources, such as your library and school!
if you don’t know where to begin when exploring financial aid options, the best place to start is federal student aid. it is a great resource for learning about different types of aid and is the place where you can access the free application for federal student aid (fafsa). you can also check out this great guide to paying for college with scholarships from goodcall.
