i purchased a couple manhattan prep books, ets's official guide, different phone apps, etc. yet i ended up using magoosh's online application almost exclusively. i work full time and was only able to study after work and weekends. i was exhausted most nights after work before i even sat down to study... without the structure that magoosh provides i would not have been able to be nearly as effective. i did not want to take the test more than once and my target was a 330. i scored a 331; what else can i say? magoosh was literally a fraction of the price of the other paid resources. it has everything you need, trust me.

magoosh helped keep me on track, at a much lower price point than other test prep systems. i followed the one-month plan, and was happy to do small pieces of prep each day. while i couldn't keep up the pace with a full-time job (as the guide warned me), i still believe magoosh helped me a lot. i learned general strategies (number sense, not looking at the verbal answers without my own answer), a sense for timing, and most importantly, i always had a plan to follow so i couldn't second-guess myself.

magoosh helped me become familiar with the types of problems that i would see on the gre and have helpful tips on how to strategically solve them.

i have a long history of average performances on standardized tests despite years of working through several books from different companies, only to find my math score remained the same. i tried magoosh as a last desperate attempt to improve my score before giving up. i was shocked and overwhelmed that after one month of magoosh, my score improved by 13 points - my math score alone jumped by 8 points. the math video lessons were incredibly well formatted - working through example problems and providing a succinct but powerful summary at the end helped me remember key points. so many of the tips and tricks taught in those videos actually came up on the real gre. in addition to the video lessons, i think the game changers that magoosh uniquely provides are 1. video explanations of answers - seeing problems worked out in front of you 2. being able to ask someone follow-up questions (and have them get back to you so quickly!) and 3. the ability to sort the questions you got wrong by topic so it’s very clear which sections you need to focus on. i’m forever grateful for magoosh and will always recommend it to those preparing for the gre.

quant videos were solid, they covered everything i needed to know. i have an engineering background, but i graduated 7 years ago. your videos helped me refresh my memory effectively

the practice problems were the most helpful. they are hard, sometimes downright frustrating. i gave up on them before my first test (feb 2021), and only got 157 in verbal. (quant was already fine at 169).

after that i decided to grind on your verbal problems, ensured that i understand the reasoning behind every correct answers and tried to get at least 90% in every practice session. after doing that, the whole verbal section started to make sense to me.

i used the set schedule to make my studying more efficient - in addition to the numerous exercises and practice tests

the video explanations where very beneficial for me since i’m an auditory learner. i took away more strategy from these than written test material from other companies. and access to practice problems very similar to what appears on the test.

magoosh was extraordinarily helpful in the following ways:

1. it provided a regimen that i could follow. i'm applying to graduate school in my 30s - the days of integer properties and quadratic equations had long passed. i was at a loss of where to even begin.

2. the instructional videos and problem explanation videos served as a very useful refresher for some long forgotten concepts.

3. practice questions. i completed all the questions and revisited all the incorrect questions at least once. i would attribute 80% of my success to the practice. as frustratingly contrived as exams are, one can get used to them simply by doing lots and lots and lots of practice.

this is for all the “average joe’s” out there: magoosh can drastically improve your score. before purchasing magoosh, i looked at many of the magoosh reviews and was a little hesitant; most of the reviews were written by people scoring in the 320s or above. that’s great for them, but i hadn’t scored well at all on my first gre attempt and wanted to have realistic expectations about my score potential. i needed to increase my quant score by at least 8 points for my grad program of choice, so i hammered math like there was no tomorrow. i watched every lesson video and completed over 400 math problems. needless to say, magoosh worked wonders for me. i gained 11 points in quant! (my verbal score didn’t improve at all, but that’s to be expected because i spent no time studying for it.) magoosh can work wonders for learners at any level, even below average math scorers like me. i’m thankful for magoosh and would recommend it to anyone.
