i purchased a couple manhattan prep books, ets's official guide, different phone apps, etc. yet i ended up using magoosh's online application almost exclusively. i work full time and was only able to study after work and weekends. i was exhausted most nights after work before i even sat down to study... without the structure that magoosh provides i would not have been able to be nearly as effective. i did not want to take the test more than once and my target was a 330. i scored a 331; what else can i say? magoosh was literally a fraction of the price of the other paid resources. it has everything you need, trust me.

magoosh helped keep me on track, at a much lower price point than other test prep systems. i followed the one-month plan, and was happy to do small pieces of prep each day. while i couldn't keep up the pace with a full-time job (as the guide warned me), i still believe magoosh helped me a lot. i learned general strategies (number sense, not looking at the verbal answers without my own answer), a sense for timing, and most importantly, i always had a plan to follow so i couldn't second-guess myself.

1. great practice content and gre is all about practice. the video explanation after each question was to the point and helped to dismantle and understand the intricate details of rc, tc and se questions.
2. the book reviews by chris helped me to choose the right content for preparation. i did make a last minute purchase - verbal reasoning practice questions by ets, but manhattan has enough tips and tricks and the 5lb book has plenty of questions for practice(note - i wouldn't recommend manhattan books for tc and se)
3. magoosh vocabulary app was a blessing. anywhere and everywhere i went i carried it with me and i revised all the words at least 5 times.
4. the feature that i used most and which eventually paid off was custom timed practice. i used to practice at least one verbal section per day as per the ets verbal section settings i.e. 20 questions in 30 minutes. i used to be pretty slow when it comes to verbal sections but with magoosh i started finishing the section early and on the test day i was able to save on an average 3-4 minutes per verbal section.
5. i didn't get enough time to practice quantitative reasoning questions, however, i practiced a few of them and they are difficult enough to prepare you for the test day.

magoosh had hundreds of easy to access questions readily available for me to familiarize myself with the format of the gre. the mock practice tests and score estimates were also very helpful.

the best part of magoosh is the test bank with video explanations. that is what makes this website a hundred times better than just reading problems from a book and "studying" on your own.

the text completions and sentence equivalence problems are the best on the market as far as test preparation goes. the math problems are unique in that they intuitively test basic math concepts. i also enjoyed the math videos. they were a good refresher. finally, the vocabulary flashcards were good in that they attuned my selection of vocabulary to study.

the practice questions in magoosh were an enormous help. so were the explanations provided with every question. i admit i did not watch nearly half the video lessons, but i'm really glad for the ones i did watch. there were many useful tidbits in nearly every video that i had no idea about. also, the vocabulary flashcards were lifesavers.

magoosh helped me immensely in building up my vocabulary and all verbal question types in verbal especially with rc questions. chris lele's advice to read actively really helped me exceed my own expectations. in the quant section magoosh helped me revise some basic concepts in statistics , counting and probability. concepts covered in the practice sets and lessons were comprehensive and most of the questions i got in the gre were based on the questions i got incorrect while practicing here on magoosh. to sum up i am grateful to the whole magoosh team. keep up the good work guys.

magoosh helped me improve my vocabulary through the amazing flashcards app. the practice questions for both verbal and quant were really helpful and helped me get used to gre type questions. the web interface is extremely user friendly and the sync feature between the website and the apps is very convenient. lastly i couldn't have done it without chris lele's awesome video tutorials for verbal :).

magoosh helped me prep a ton!
i really liked the vocabulary apps and reading comprehension questions, they felt very similar to the actual gre questions.
several of the advanced vocabulary terms showed up on the actual exam.

i also appreciated the math lessons, though unless you need serious help with the quantitative sections, i wouldn't recommend going through all of them.

especially in light of the price, magoosh is a must have! unless if you need in person instruction, you should
never waste the money on a class. magoosh is more than good enough if not better! you can pace yourself with magoosh in a way that you can't with regular classes.

magoosh was incredibly helpful in preparing me for the gre. i was a bit rusty on geometry and it was so easy to get reacquainted by watching the videos. i found the verbal videos with chris lele's explanations super helpful, concise, and easy to understand. he's pretty funny as well so that made things more enjoyable.
i just took the gre last night, and i didn't think there were any questions that were more challenging than those i did on magoosh. i think if you can master the questions on magoosh then you are in great shape for the gre!

i was one of those severely "math-phobic" folks and it was really holding me back. i have always excelled at language fairly effortlessly and have been self-conscious about my self-perceived lack of natural ability in math since i was in middle school. i actually managed to attend and graduate from a prestigious college (majoring and receiving honors in sociology, no less) without ever taking calculus, which is something i really regret now. now that i'm planning to apply to mba programs, i have to show quantitative ability somehow and there's no math on my transcript. the first time i took the gre, i hardly prepared at all. honestly, i was afraid to face how lost i felt with math. obviously, i didn't do very well on the quantitative section! book-based prep just wasn't going to cut it (and the material in most prep books is easier than the test--not good) and i couldn't even begin to afford an expensive course or private tutoring. magoosh really saved the day. there is no better value out there for the money. i purchased the full package so i could take practice tests, but basically ignored the verbal lessons and focused on my weaknesses in math. i studied for about nine weeks (~80 hours total) and it really paid off. thanks in part to magoosh, i feel confident enough to take a calculus course this year in preparation for business school, and to continue to confront my math fears head-on. my advice for prep: don't waste time on the stuff you already know. drill down on your weaknesses. you know what they are!

magoosh was fantastic! this was my first time taking the gre and i was very pleased with my scores. i have a strong math background so i wasn't too worried about the math section, but i was scoring in the mid-150's in verbal on my first practice tests. the flashcards were excellent in building up my lacking vocabulary and i found chris's style of breaking down reading comprehension questions extremely helpful.

first, the videos cover all the topics required for the test(and maybe a bit more). there is no need of external sources in this aspect.
second, the techniques explained in lessons and solutions are very effective, helping to diminish the time spent per question.
third, the +500 math problems and the interface are a valuable tool for practice. practice and timing make all the difference on the test day. magoosh interface is particularly accurate in mimicking the gre's.
i took my first powerprep ii test before trying magoosh: v156/q151. after taking all the quant lessons, most of verbal lessons, and finishing all the quant excersices, my powerprep score increased to v159/q161. my performance was slightly better on test day( v163/q161).

hats off to magoosh for their excellent gre training program. the training videos explained all the topics very well and i didn't need to open a single book for my preparation. the flexible custom practice sessions were very convenient and mock tests were up to the level of gre. personally for me, the extensive set of practice questions were more than enough to master the gre topics.

the first time i took the gre, i received a 162v 159q (with little prep). in preparation for ph.d. applications, i was looking to break the 160-barrier in quantitative.

i retook the gre for the first time using kaplan resources (that predicted that i would achieve scores in the mid-160s in both categories). on the test, i encountered several math problems that involved concepts that kaplan did not even address--leaving me completely befuddled. my score for this first retake--166v, 159q--was frustrating, to say the least.

when looking to retake the gre for a second time, i looked for a resource that had extensive math concepts training, and more "realistic" math problems. i had heard about magoosh in the past, but was skeptical of an all-online test prep resource. however, after reading several reviews about magoosh's "realism," i decided to give it a try.

magoosh offered a comprehensive test prep course. the tutorial videos helped to refresh all of the math concepts i had forgotten about since high school, providing both conceptual explanations, and practical test-day techniques/hints/shortcuts. further, the practice questions for both subjects were much more "realistic" than those used by other test prep services; at times, i thought that magoosh's practice questions were markedly more difficult than those on the actual gre.

when test day came, i felt confident because of the extensive review and practice that magoosh offered, and, as i took the exam, i honestly thought that some of the questions were "too easy." when my scores flashed across the screen at the end, i was ecstatic; it was a perfect end to the summer, courtesy of magoosh!
