you, our next thriving student?

i purchased a couple manhattan prep books, ets's official guide, different phone apps, etc. yet i ended up using magoosh's online application almost exclusively. i work full time and was only able to study after work and weekends. i was exhausted most nights after work before i even sat down to study... without the structure that magoosh provides i would not have been able to be nearly as effective. i did not want to take the test more than once and my target was a 330. i scored a 331; what else can i say? magoosh was literally a fraction of the price of the other paid resources. it has everything you need, trust me.

magoosh helped keep me on track, at a much lower price point than other test prep systems. i followed the one-month plan, and was happy to do small pieces of prep each day. while i couldn't keep up the pace with a full-time job (as the guide warned me), i still believe magoosh helped me a lot. i learned general strategies (number sense, not looking at the verbal answers without my own answer), a sense for timing, and most importantly, i always had a plan to follow so i couldn't second-guess myself.

magoosh was a terrific product, from the gre identical questions (quality over quantity, any day) to the tremendously easy to absorb videos. the little things like using counting over permutations or the mixture problem diagrams or always substituting in your own words were what took what would have probably been an average score to a halfway decent one :)

i had 4 weeks to prepare so i followed the 1 month daily plan and having that structure was incredibly helpful. i had a few weeks off, so i finished with that plan in 2 weeks, and i feel like i actually regressed in the 2 weeks without the plan.

i found the quality of videos in the math section particularly high. each and every concept was explained clearly. also, some of the tips on how to avoid trap answers or to compute answers faster were particularly useful.

as for verbal section, i think, i would consider myself a native english speaker, even though i come from india, because i pretty much always converse in english. the quality of questions and the strategies to work yourself out of a sticky situation were nevertheless edifying. i think some of the questions on the verbal section, particularly on sentence equivalence were quite hard. but i would consider that a good that, as it prepared me to be up for anything.

i think the strategy to view the verbal section not as a test but as a day to day task of reading news or research paper (which i did a lot while writing my master thesis) to get a big picture helped me a lot. this not only increased my speed exponentially (i finished both verbal sections with 3-5 minutes to spare), but also calmed my nerves down a lot. there is nothing more worse than running out of time on a verbal section. it kills your analytical power. my approach was, if i don't know the answer, guess on the basis of what i can infer from the big picture, or skip the question (you can always come back to answer the question).

my practice scores were kind of haywire. i must admit that i didn't take them in the best of testing conditions (especially with my pc screaming!). i guess this pretty much prepared for the worst case scenario in the test center (not that i would recommend this strategy to anyone :p). however, i always took complete practice tests, without skipping awa section, even though they are not graded by magoosh.

i did drink coffee and some energy drinks on the test day, even though it is not recommended. i think i was more comfortable with drinking one than not. i guess the bottomline is treat your test day as any another day and do stuff which is part of your daily routine.

the study schedules and the math tutorial videos were especially helpful.

it was helpful to gain some insights into what the test makers are looking for when they ask certain questions. strategies for questions over passages and paragraphs on the verbal section were especially useful here. i also feel that the math content was helpful, even though my score did not increase by as great of a margin.

this is the second time i took gre. i followed 30 days study plan, reviewed the lessons and practised exercises everyday. magoosh is my only study tool this time besides og and it really did help. i am so happy to get verbal increased 12 points. thanks for magoosh team.

i used various materials recommended by magoosh and also found the video tutorials very helpful. the site is easy to use, the maths and verbal exercises are designed to make learning fun - i actually started looking at this like a game i went back to playing regularly in preparation for the test.

magoosh was extremely helpful in explaining the logic behind the questions. many of my mistakes, especially in the verbal section, were not due to a lack of vocabulary, but rather due to not properly understanding how the questions worked.

in regards to the quantitative section, magoosh literally showed me every trick necessary to answer questions correctly, or at least reason through the questions on the gre. without the help of your quantitative practice problems i definitely would not have gotten a 154 on the math section. i would truly like to thank whoever the man is who made all the short clips about how to answer each quantitative section. those were extremely helpful.
also, the 6 point essay examples were really helpful as well.

the magoosh practice questions were essential to increasing my confidence and comfort level. i am very satisfied with magoosh. it blows other prep companies out of the water.

i hardly studied for 3hrs a day, for 1 and a half months before taking the gre. i come from a medical field and haven't really touched maths for over 7 yrs. i hold magoosh responsible for my success to a large extent. the questions in the question bank are very specific and close to the ones that are actually asked in the exam. the lessons are short and to the point. it helps the students in studying smart and also ends up saving our time and energy. thank you magoosh.

it was incredibly helpful to have a game plan laid out, have all the basics covered, and more than anything the volume of questions similar to the gre (which i can say now that i've taken it). i also really like the estimate of scores based on practice questions - it was right on the money for me!

magoosh is the best resource for autodidacts to help them get that extra mile. the biggest resource was definitely the vocab cards and video lessons. the whole interface is very pleasing to the eye and perfectly put together.

great videos and really loved the quizzes! also the exhaustive tests were great preparation. i really love the way each question has a text and video explanation and the wonderful, simple and responsive gui is pleasure to look at and use!! the flash card apps saved my life in the verbal section!

the study plans were extremely helpful to 'force' me study almost everyday. the questions proposed were incredibly similar to those seen in the actual exam. they helped me to put in the head of the test makers.

magoosh helped me immensely especially in improving my verbal score. during the exam, i noticed that the standard of verbal practice questions are higher than that of gre, especially the single blank, two blank, three blank completions and sentence equivalence. i sincerely want to thank you for this.

magoosh is so user friendly that it made studying feel like playing videogames - i was actually addicted! it made everything so clear and organized that seeing my progress and the score predictor going up was such a strong motivator. the 30 day study plan was a great basis, though i adapted it to my own specific needs, which became clear after a week of the basics. i don't think i could have had a better experience preparing for a test, i am even a little sad that it's over!

magoosh was the only study material i used and i was very happy with it. it covers theory comprehensively in lessons and provides enough exercises of different difficulty levels for practice. thank you guys.

the help magoosh gave me was incredible! i was at first skeptical about purchasing it because i thought i was able to do all the exercises, and i only needed to get quicker. but i hadn't realize that there's a quicker way to solve each exercise, and magoosh gives you that.

magoosh lessons are very helpful.

magoosh is awesome because it helps me in almost every steps in preparing the gre. questions and explanations are fully enough to cover nearly every type of real situations you will encounter when you are sitting in front of the computer in test center.

the video lessons are very informative for starters. it saves me a huge amount of time to get to the prep work immediately and really helps me to establish my routines on how to tackle each type of questions effectively and efficiently.

the practice questions are extremely helpful. they are fairly similar to the questions appearing on the real test; the video and text explanations provide a wealth of details on how to approach and address the questions; they are even designed in a way that i can see my pace and how it is compared with others' to better track my progress.

overall, magoosh makes my preparation much less stressful and i am very grateful.

the two most helpful things for me were the vocabulary flashcard app and generating math sections based on subject and difficulty. i tried using a big company's books for about a month and even shelled out for a private tutor, but wasn't improving. then i used magoosh math and did a ton of hard problems in the area i was weakest. i improved 8 points on a practice test in just 2 days! i wish i had known about magoosh earlier.

out of all the gre preparation materials that i've used, magoosh was by far the best one. i like that magoosh offers more than a bank of questions. i could read blog posts about the gre, use apps on my phone to study vocabulary, read e-books on math formulas and vocab and also get relevant emails about the gre in my inbox. magoosh is by far the best package available for self-study for the gre.
