you, our next thriving student?

i purchased a couple manhattan prep books, ets's official guide, different phone apps, etc. yet i ended up using magoosh's online application almost exclusively. i work full time and was only able to study after work and weekends. i was exhausted most nights after work before i even sat down to study... without the structure that magoosh provides i would not have been able to be nearly as effective. i did not want to take the test more than once and my target was a 330. i scored a 331; what else can i say? magoosh was literally a fraction of the price of the other paid resources. it has everything you need, trust me.

magoosh helped keep me on track, at a much lower price point than other test prep systems. i followed the one-month plan, and was happy to do small pieces of prep each day. while i couldn't keep up the pace with a full-time job (as the guide warned me), i still believe magoosh helped me a lot. i learned general strategies (number sense, not looking at the verbal answers without my own answer), a sense for timing, and most importantly, i always had a plan to follow so i couldn't second-guess myself.

great practice problems, practice exams, and explanations.

i was a huge fan of the quant video lessons and step-by-step explanations of each practice question. i tried using the text-based explanations provided in test prep books, but they were sometimes poorly worded and difficult to understand. magoosh's explanations were direct and clear.

the maths lessons were particularly helpful, as were all the sample questions. i felt confident that i had learned all the important concepts to be ready for the maths section. also very helpful were the advice and tips to understand how the test was structured and how to perform to the best of our ability.

limited time practice

i benefitted the most from the writing videos.

great advice on how to take the test, what question traps to avoid, how to make the best of the difficult situations. videos specific to concepts, linked to problems you've missed.

the verbal score was higher than what what would i have got on my own.

magoosh helped me stay organized, and gave me great study material.

apart from having great videos, what really helped is the huge set of questions magoosh provides. solving magoosh is enough to score well in both verbal and quant.

i knew all the math, i just couldn't remember it. magoosh was the perfect rubric for brushing up on everything really, really fast. like, 21 days fast.

the verbal and quant questions were at par with actual exam.

vocab flashcards proved very useful, the feature to turn practice questions into practice tests is great, helps condition the mind to adapt to tests with wide-ranging difficulties.

the quality of questions were very good. they were equivalent to the kind of questions i faces in the real gre. also, the techniques learnt through the verbal videos proved to be very useful. the usage interface with the various filters for reviewing the questions already practiced was useful.

it was all on the computer, which helped with getting used to taking the test electronically. (i have only taken paper-based tests before.)

magoosh helped by providing questions that were similar in format and conceptual content to the questions that one would encounter when taking the actual gre.

quality of questions along with their solution explanations are remarkable. particularly, i find solving verbal section problems addictive, even after the exam :). i loved the 'hard' and 'very hard' level questions, in terms of the effect they had on my problem solving skills and my overall confidence. the student support was quick to respond to any questions that i had. the instructive lectures on awa helped my writing skills tremendously, specifically, providing a template for the issue essays and enlisting the possible line of attacks for the argument essays. finally, the practice tests are closest to the true gre experience in terms of the level of questions. also, these practice tests provide a good indication of the required mental endurance as they also have the experimental section which is (unfortunately) not there even in the ets practice tests :)

the verbal exercises do help me a lot, especially on text completion part. thanks to the well-designed questions and the subtle solutions to them, let alone the attached videos. i didn't expect to get a score > 150 since the last one, 154, was actually a fluke. but this time, i can solve the text completion problems in less than 1 min/q, where i used to spend more than 1.5 min/q.

it made studying process so much easier as i'm working full time and only had very limited time to study. it is great in the way that i don't need to browse around internet to look for materials, which i did for my last gre. everything from making study plan to what to do on test day just saved so much energy.

it really helps me for establishing the way to analyze the question, if i spent more time on it, i am pretty sure it would be better.

magoosh was my main source of gre prep, apart from the official ets guide. the verbal and awa videos were of great help when it came to learning about the test and learning from my mistakes. the practice questions were of superior quality compared to the few other resources i looked at, not to mention the in-depth explanations. the practice tests by magoosh are the only tests (i've done the free manhattan test and the powerprep tests) that dropped in an experimental section, truly requiring me to maintain the stamina needed for test day.

in addition to the excellent premium subscription, the free material was also great. the magoosh flashcards, coupled with the chrome extension was more than enough for the vocabulary seen on the test (apart from reading and spotting words in the wild, of course!).

magoosh's schedule is very useful for me. it helps me to make a study plan for gre study. the lessens tells me how to answer the questions, and magoosh's challenging practices also helps me to get higher score in gre test.
