you, our next thriving student?

i purchased a couple manhattan prep books, ets's official guide, different phone apps, etc. yet i ended up using magoosh's online application almost exclusively. i work full time and was only able to study after work and weekends. i was exhausted most nights after work before i even sat down to study... without the structure that magoosh provides i would not have been able to be nearly as effective. i did not want to take the test more than once and my target was a 330. i scored a 331; what else can i say? magoosh was literally a fraction of the price of the other paid resources. it has everything you need, trust me.

magoosh helped keep me on track, at a much lower price point than other test prep systems. i followed the one-month plan, and was happy to do small pieces of prep each day. while i couldn't keep up the pace with a full-time job (as the guide warned me), i still believe magoosh helped me a lot. i learned general strategies (number sense, not looking at the verbal answers without my own answer), a sense for timing, and most importantly, i always had a plan to follow so i couldn't second-guess myself.

helped me get back into thinking about math, which i hadn't done for 4 years. through doing all the questions i saw many different situations of possible questions and became comfortable with all the math concepts on the test. the vocabulary flashcards helped me learn many words and review old ones, such that i felt very confident about my vocabulary going in to the test. the study plan kept me on track and motivated to study every day.

vocabulary flashcard, verbal exercises and practice test are super helpful. effective and efficient. especially the practice test, simply better than ets' practice test.

the videos were great. i learned a lot of techniques i didn't have before. tracking time per problem, incorrect problems, and flagging was very useful.

i used the 1 month study guide religiously. having the math practice questions and explanations was particularly useful. i also would listen to the videos walking to work and practice mental math, which i really think helped me get in that headspace.

the 600+ math questions were really useful in improving my scores. the questions were almost exactly similar to what i ended up being asked on the gre. i didn't use the videos that much, but only did the questions and they boosted my math score by 8 points.

1. magoosh's gre flashcards embellished my vocabulary considerably, and also provided me with a fair deal of confidence, regarding the vocabulary sections of the test.
2. while i did not use magoosh for its video-lectures, i must say that i found its practice questions quite useful, doing about a hundred questions in each of the two major sections. i think that they art an accurate representation of one's performance in the examination, going so far as to inform me that my speed was slower than the average, which proved to be quite detrimental to me in the exam, since i wasn't able to complete three sections fully. i think if one takes the practice questions seriously, and keeps a tab on their average time, magoosh could help with giving a person enough preparation and confidence to clear the gre.

it's a comprehensive study tool. practice questions are great and so are the explanations! any doubts are promptly answered. the blogs and gre article of month feature is great and so is the flashcard app!

it organized my studying (particularly with math) and helped me become comfortable with the gre and its question types. when i went into the test, i felt really well-prepared.

it was a straightforward and easy way to practice and prepare. i like that i didn't have to make a plan for myself or put much thought into it. i just logged in, watched videos, did practice problems.

magoosh was such a valuable resource for me while studying for the gre, that i can't imagine doing as well as i did without it, so it is very much worth paying for it. as someone who never felt like a "math person", i was terrified of the quant section (i was scoring in the mid 140s before i had started any studying), but after going through all the magoosh math questions and some of them multiple times, i was consistently scoring at the level necessary to get into the grad school programs of my choice, which at the beginning i thought was impossible. i liked how many hard/very hard questions there were, because it made me feel much more prepared for the actual exam. the tips/tricks on how to answer gre-specific questions (specifically quantitative comparison, how to do reading comprehension quickly and effectively, how to structure the essays, and sentence equivalence) were also taught well and i found myself using them very often during the real exam. i also appreciate how quickly my questions were answered and the level of thought put into each response is impressive.

the lesson videos, excercises and flashcards were my full preparation for the test.

it's been many years since my last math course, this program helped to dredge up concepts i had long banished to the deeper parts of my memory. the explanations were very helpful and allowed me to achieve a passable score on the math section, something i had previously been convinced was impossible.
