7 awesome education podcasts you should know about

as an education company, of course we like to stay on top of education news … but we also like to have a good time doing it. one way we spice up our edu-news consumption is by listening to awesome podcasts.

the following is a list of some of our favorites. they cover everything from edtech trends to innovation to how stuff works around the world. and the best part: they always manage do it in creative and fun ways. you won’t find yourself tuning out while listening to any of these, we guarantee it!

1. the forum by bbc

pondering our place in the universe, learning the history and future of education, and discovering the origins of storytelling are just a few things you’ll get to do with this podcast. each week, you can download an episode and hear experts discuss and debate life’s most complex topics. but hop to it! each episode is only available for 30 days.

2. #nerdycast

if you’re thinking, “hey, education sounds like a pretty boring subject for an entire podcast”… then, a) i’m surprised you clicked on this article (way to be open minded!); and b) i promise the host of #nerdycast, nicholas provenzano, will totally change your mind. this podcast does an excellent job of weaving together pop culture, education, and tech into genuinely entertaining and hilarious 30- to 60-minute episodes.

if you’re interested in learning about tech for the classroom, this podcast is for you. let jon samuelson and his fellow hosts update you on all things school tech through a series of interesting and thought-provoking interviews with real teachers. their mission: to produce “great educational content without taking things so seriously.”

4. edutalk

the scotland-based team behind edutalk created this site as a platform for educators and students to upload their own audio, giving them a chance to voice their opinions on changes education reform and edtech. it’s always interesting to hear from people living through the rapid changes in education.

what, you thought we’d get through this whole list without mentioning tedtalks? no way, jose. did you know there’s special list just for you education-tedtalk fans out there? subscribe to hear ted presentations from today’s top researchers, educators, and education leaders about a range of fascinating topics.
